One Sheet
The Douglas Detrick Trio plays the traditional roots music of the United States, including the blues, country and appalachian music, from a free jazz perspective. Drawing inspiration from the classic recorded performances of Son House and Roscoe Holcomb, the trio shows the shows the beauty and flexibility of this repertoire by playing these tunes with a warmth of feeling and joy of spontaneity, blending the culture of these folk musics with contemporary jazz.
The Douglas Detrick Trio had its premiere performance at New York’s The Stone, and has also performed at the University of the Streets and Brooklyn’s Douglass Street Music Collective featuring baritone saxophonist and bass clarinetist Josh Sinton.
