August 18, 2013 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

$10

Click here to RSVP now! Grants can be an vital part of every artist’s fundraising strategy, but the application process can be so complex that some deserving artists won’t even apply. The best way to give yourself a real chance to win arts grants is to learn the language of grant seeking, and what you can expect from particular grants and from the grant seeking process as a whole.

Learn where and how to look for grants

Time is precious when you are an artist, so it’s important to know what resources are available and what to look for so you don’t waste your time. This workshop will show you the best resources for research and how to use them.

Learn the fundamentals of budgeting

A grant budget is different from an accounting budget. We will talk about how to communicate to a potential funder that you can be trusted with their money.

Learn to write a compelling proposal

If you can write well about your ideas, then you’re much more likely to get your ideas funded. Good writing is not rocket science, but there are some important guidelines that we will discuss.

This workshop will be a relaxed meeting of artists with common interests, and I make sure no one feels intimidated because they don’t know anything about grant writing. Beyond a great opportunity to improve your career, this will be a great place to meet like-minded artists who could be an important part of your community! Please follow this link to RSVP.

  • Hi Douglas,
I am looking forward to this grant writing workshop. I work on landscape and portraiture, and most recently on cultural traditions in Mexico and Mexican communities in the USA via photography and some writing. I will be applying to QCA for the individual artist grant this year, and want to create a publication and public exhibit for my work. I now have my own studio which is helping me take my work to another level. My second goal is to learn video and film production and editing making to gain a new skill.
I work as a picture researcher and editor and photographer to support my art habit.
I am looking for your email with the questions to answer.
    Kind regards,
    Mary

    • Mary, it sounds like you’ve got a lot of great things going on! I’ll send you an email directly in just a moment.
